Hepatitis B virus, abbreviated HBV, is a species of the genus Orthohepadnavirus, which is likewise a part of the Hepadnaviridae family of viruses. This virus causes the disease hepatitis B.
In addition to causing hepatitis B, infection with HBV can lead to cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma.
It has also been suggested that it may increase the risk of pancreatic cancer.

- Nausea, anorexia, vomiting

- Influenza-like syndrome
- Sometimes the temperature drops, accompanied by jaundice arising
Main sign
- Jaundice
- Hepatomegaly, tenderness
- Temperatures above normal
Laboratory tests
- SGPT / SGOT, increased
- Bilirubin increased
- Normal leucocytes or leukopenia
Special inspection
- HBsAg (hepatitis B surface antigen) to HVB
- Anti-HBs antibodies to HBsAg
- Anti-HBc, HBeAg, HBV DNA
COMPLICATIONS
- Hepatic coma
- Chronic active hepatitis
- Chronic persistent hepatitis
- Cirrhosis hepatis
- Hepatoma
